Thursday

On Friday this week, the library will celebrate our students who have read and reviewed more than 10 books this year as part of our school's Vikings Read! Book Campaign.

Students on the list will receive a ticket to attend the lunch in the library during fifth period. Thank you for your support of reading achievement!

JCPS Forward Information

Hey Vikings! I have LOTS to share this week!

There are several opportunities to grow as an educator coming up in the next few weeks! No matter what you teach or how long you've taught it, these events are sure to help connect you to other JCPS teachers, learn about new instructional practices and help provide an equitable learning experience to each of your students!

The Backpack League is a one-of-a-kind learning experience for our students. Dr. Coleman is calling on teachers to work in pairs and come up with their most creative ideas. This is your opportunity to try that great new approach (like project-based learning) or program (like Minecraft for Education) you’ve been thinking about!
  • Learn more about the Backpack League here
  • Attend an info session on 1/10, 1/14, & 1/16. Search backpack on pdCentral.

ECET2Lou is an invitation-only PD planned by teachers, for teachers. It serves as a catalyst in connecting teachers to stronger instructional and innovative practices, to one another, and to some cool swag and it's unlike any PD you'll ever attend!
  • Breakfast and lunch provided.
  • The event is for PD credit.
  • Each attendee receives a book that will be used to have a district-wide book study.
  • Door prizes include Chromebooks, gift cards & certificates, and classroom supplies.
District leaders will be there & the keynotes will be stellar, including Teacher2Teacher's Kenie RichardsThere will be large-group sessions on Backpack artifacts, learning ways to build equity into your everyday instruction and ways to help build climate and culture in your classroom, school, and community:

  • To nominate an educator, click here.
  • To submit a session, click here. Session types:
    • 30-minute introductory session
    • 45-minute "next steps" session
    • 15-minute digital tools session

Be on the lookout for the session proposal and registration windows to open for this year's Deeper Learning Symposium. Mark your calendars for June 11 to 13.

Remember to share any cool ideas, articles or opportunities you come across so that I can submit them for the Friday Forward, the weekly educator newsletter in JCPS!

Thank you,
Ms. Concepcion
