MAP Make Up testing 9th and 10th Grades

Pajama Day

From Ms Ellison:

After reviewing the numbers of students still needing to MAP test (336), I had to modify my plan and test 9th and 10th on Monday and 11th and 12th on Tuesday.

I have 79 freshmen to test (2nd and 3rd periods in the LIBRARY) and 105 sophomores to test (5th and 6th periods in the LIBRARY ).  I will be distributing purple passes during first period to the students who are scheduled to test on Monday.  Teachers, please pass out these purple passes if you receive them.  This slip of paper serves as their hall pass and also lets them know what period to report to the small gym for testing.  I have attached BOTH 9th and 10th Grade lists to this email for your reference.

I will email all attendance at the end of the day on Monday.  Tuesday will roll the same with 11th grade testing 2nd and 3rd and 12th grade testing 5th and 6th.  I have 79 juniors to test and 88 seniors on Tuesday.  I will not disturb finals on Wednesday and Thursday.  But, I might try to pull a few students on Friday if I can.  The district wants us at 90% and it will truly take the Valley Village to get there.  A special thanks to the math and English teachers who have been MAP testing for the past three weeks.  I appreciate you!!

I will have a radio and my cell (see email) while I am testing in the small gym if you need to reach me for anything.

JCPS Forward Friday Information:

Hello, Viking Nation!

It's getting closer to our holiday break and I wanted to share the JCPSForward Holiday Reading List that district employees curated. Access the list here: http://bit.ly/jcpslist. Over the break, the goal is for readers to share a picture the book they chose, thanking the person who recommended it. Door prizes will be awarded from Instagram and Twitter (using the #JCPSReads hashtag) and on the JCPSForward Facebook page (posting to the page) each day of the break.

Don’t forget about next week’s #JCPSChat on Twitter (Mon. from 8:00-8:30 p.m.) and on our Facebook page (all next week as a slow chat). The topic will be “Looking Behind to Plan Ahead.” We hope you’ll join us. Unsure of how to take part in a Twitter chat? Click here.

Remember to reach out to me if you have something you want to highlight on social media and/or the Friday Forward, the district’s educator newsletter.

Thank you so much,

Patti Concepcion

Library Tuesday Tip:

Our library website provides you with access to Britannica databases.  Two of the best tools around for gathering complete lessons are Britannica Launch Packs.

Britannica Launch Packs are packets of information on just about any given topic, that includes articles, images, videos, primary sources, activity ideas, basically an entire lesson that is  put together in a convenient “pack” for easier access to resources right at your fingertips!  Currently, JCPS has access to Britannica Launch Packs in Social Studies and we also now have Launch Packs in Science.
