Hey Everyone!

Here's what is happening this week in advisory, Dec 6th.  Points sheets are also being distributed this week!  Scroll to the bottom of the email for more information!

9th = How to Be A Freshman: Over the next two weeks, students will be creating a "How to Be a Freshman" brochure to go in their digital backpack.  This week they will be going over the structure of the assignment and creating a rough draft. Digital materials are uploaded in the 9th grade advisory folder and hard copies + points sheets will be ready in Room 322 by the end of the day. Point = Masters

10th = Stress Relief: This week's lesson is all about stress relief and how students can be more mindful.  It is also a great time to give students tips and tricks about test anxiety.  There is no PowerPoint this week so follow the provided lesson plan for exact instructions. Digital materials are uploaded in the 10th grade advisory folder and hard copies + points sheets will be ready in Room 322 by the end of the day. Point = Vanegas

11th = Code Switching: Students will be discussing code switching and how to appropriately approach different groups of people. Discussion will also include code switching on social media. Digital materials are uploaded in the 11th grade advisory folder and hard copies + points sheets will be ready in Room 322 by the end of the day. Point = Funk

12th = Backpack Check-In: Every student must have an artifact in their backpack by Christmas.  However, most students aren't uploading them correctly so we are going over it in advisory!  This lesson reviews the backpack requirements, gives additional examples and has students go through a check-in progress.  Students will be completing a handout that they will return to you to earn 35 advisory points.  This was reflected in the beginning of the year advisory tracker!  Please make sure to assign them the points as part of your role as "Backpack Advisor." Copies are ready for pick-up and you can find digital materials in the 12th grade advisory folder. Point = Brannock
